Berkley Fishing was founded in Spirit Lake, Iowa, in 1937 by 16-year-old Berkley Bedell. Beginning with hand-tied flies using hair clipped from his dog, Bedell's kitchen-table venture quickly grew into a global tackle giant. Today, under the parent company Pure Fishing, Berkley is a world leader in scientific tackle development, utilizing state-of-the-art laboratory facilities to design legendary brands like Trilene, PowerBait, Gulp!, and MaxScent, which are backed by extensive fish-behavior science.
